The Green Hammerton Community Planting Day takes place on Monday 18 November from 11.00 a.m. until 1.30 p.m.

We're starting at the Primary School with an Ecology Talk by Paul Cassidy, Ecology & Conservation Manager, followed by a brisk walk to the Strata/Adore Housing Estate to plant orchard trees, berries, bulbs and hedgerow.

Children will be provided with gardening gloves and trowels by Meadfleet Open Space Management Company and we encourage all attendees to wear warm clothes, waterproofs and wellies. The aim is to inspire young and old; established and newer residents to appreciate the wildlife around them, encourage biodiversity and beautify the village for this and future generations.

If you would like to attend, please get in touch with Miss Holloway at GH Primary School or with Mrs. Lister at the Village Library.

The Big butterfly Hunt

Saturday 20th July is Nature Day in the Wildlife Garden behind the Green Hammerton library. Children, young people and adults in Green Hammerton and surrounding villages are welcome to join us for the Big Butterfly Hunt.

All welcome: Grandparents, Parents, Guardians, Nannies, Childminders, Governesses and their children can identify butterflies, bees and bugs for Butterfly Conservation.

Refreshments available.

Children, young people and adults in Green Hammerton and surrounding villages will be able to enjoy reading and literacy activities from July 2023.

Green Hammerton Library & Family Hub

Our learning parent partnership group is a new, small unincorporated charity that came into being in December 2014. It provides high-quality, responsive care for parents on modest incomes, free at the point of delivery. This enables parents (women in particular) to participate fully in work, education and training, health and leisure activities, knowing their children are safe and happy in an environment that fosters learning.
